Our services in the field of rheumatology
The rheumatology team at Sonic Suisse supports the diagnosis and management of rheumatic diseases that affect the immune system and the connective tissue.

Below are some of the activities that are carried out in connection with rheumatology in our laboratories:
- Rheumatoid factors and autoantibodies: Our laboratories can carry out tests to measure rheumatoid factors and various autoantibodies in the blood. These tests may be useful in diagnosing diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus and Sjögren's syndrome.
- Inflammation markers: Inflammation markers such as C-reactive protein (CRP) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) may indicate types of inflammation in the body that often occur in rheumatic diseases. These markers can be measured in the laboratory to monitor the course of the disease and to assess the efficacy of treatment.
- Synovial fluid analysis: If inflammatory arthritis suspected, the synovial fluid can be analysed to look for signs of inflammation, crystals or infections. This may assist in clarifying the cause of joint symptoms and planning suitable treatment.
- Drug monitoring: If patients are taking immunomodulators to treat rheumatic diseases, the laboratory is able to monitor the concentrations of these drugs in the blood in order to ensure that they are within the therapeutic range and that no unwanted side effects occur.
- Genetic tests: In some cases, genetic tests can be carried out to assess the risk of certain rheumatic diseases or to determine whether a patient has a genetic predisposition that may affect the efficacy of certain drugs.
