What are the jobs of the kidneys and how do they function? What is chronic renal failure and what are the consequences? What clarification takes place when chronic renal failure is diagnosed and how is it treated?

-
Kidneys perform a variety of jobs and are vital for life. This means that kidney disease can have far-reaching consequences for the entire body.
-
Chronic renal failure is the result of an illness that has permanently damaged the kidneys. In most cases, the damage is progressive and kidney function decreases steadily. Symptoms do not become noticeable until chronic enal failure has reached an advanced stage. Often, they are non-specific and are not attributed to decreasing kidney function, but rather dismissed as a sign of ageing.
-
For these reasons, among others, it is critical to identify renal failure as early as possible by means of investigations and laboratory analyses. To find out more, refer to our literature or speak to one of our Sonic Suisse nephrology specialists.
